This pendant was hand fabricated from sterling silver sheet metal & wire. It features a Fordite "stone" in red & yellow.
Fordite, aka Detroit agate is made from pre-1985 automobile paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. It was formed by the now extinct practice of hand spray-painting multiples of production car bodies in large automotive factories. The over-sprayed paint in the painting bays gradually built up on the tracks and skids that the car bodies were moved on. Over time, many colorful layers built up there.
I gave the Fordite an asymmetrical, modernist design, with two small accent stones, rose cut garnet & citrine. All the stones are bezel set in fine silver, with the Fordite set in a serrated edge bezel. Hung from a delicate, oxidized sterling silver rounded box chain.
The pendant (including bail) is 1.38" in length and 1" in width. The rounded box chain is 1.25 mm in width and 18" in length.
