Fossil Clam Shell Sterling Silver Stamped Beach Pendant Necklace

This pendant was hand fabricated from sterling silver sheet metal. It features an Anadara fossil clam shell. These beautiful ancient shells are named after their genus, and come in many shapes and sizes, from black and white to rare blue highlights and stunning shades of beige. They are from the Miocene age and range from 5-23 million years old! They can be found on the beaches in Northern California & Southern Oregon.
This fossil shell has some great colors, including light blue. It is bezel set in fine silver. As a natural shell it does not have a flat back, but I was able to get it to sit securely in the bezel. I added a stamped border to the setting. The metal was oxidized. Hung from a delicate, oxidized sterling silver rounded box chain.
The pendant is 1" in length and .75" in width. The rounded box chain is 1.25 mm in width and 18" in length.
